Final Inspection

Final Inspection:

It is an inspection in the manufacturing process, and refers to the inspection performed in the final stage of manufacturing process. In this test, whether the complete goods meet the requirements as a product or not is determined in order to prevent the loss in customer confidence, various problems, and damages in advance. On top of that, the manufacturing process includes Acceptance Inspection and Inspection between Processes, both of which are performed for such constituent items as purchased raw materials, processed parts, and assemblies, and they are not done for complete goods. In the Final Inspection, the whole of the product including the requests from customers is inspected.

Final Inspection consists of inspecting finished garments from the buyer’s point of view; size measurements, form fitting (putting garments on the proper size manikins to see if they properly fit labeled sizes); and live modeling if necessary (again to see if the garments properly fit the labeled sizes). Final inspection may occur before or after garments are packed in poly bags and cartons. If it is done after garments packed, then proper size and style markings on the package can also be checked.

Final quality inspections are the last activity which performed before shipment. After complete the pre-final or lot pass inspection, this kind of inspection process commonly coordinated by final inspector before the shipment, it’s called final inspection. It is also known as pre-shipment inspection.

After packing and cartooning is over, all the items comprising a consignment ready for shipment is also called a lot or population on which statistical method can be successfully used. Any sample randomly taken from such a lot can represent the whole lot.

Pre-shipment or final inspection is generally organized by buyer’s representative. This inspection process mainly held on the apparel factory. If reject rate is higher than a pre-set value the whole lot is rejected or returned for recheck.

To get high quality and defect less garment, to get right measurement, perfect finishing, and the accuracy of final inspection, textile manufacturer have to maintain a sequence of different steps is as follows. It is also used as a sequence of final inspection of garments shipment lot.

Final Inspection Procedure:

The final inspection is done before the shipment of goods. The garments are checked randomly from the carton box to verify the quality parameter.

The quality parameter will be based on the AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) standard. The AQL standard is checked and calculated by the buyer’s inspection agency or buying office QC or the exporter QC.

If the AQL level not meets the quality standard, the exporter has to resubmit the goods for inspection after the reconstruction of the garment. Sometimes the goods will be canceled or rejected by the buyer if it not meets the buyer’s expected quality.

Types of Final Inspection:

  1. Self-final inspection
  2. Second party final inspection
  3. Third party final inspection

Self Final Inspection:

If the buyer has much confidence in the quality control procedures of the manufacturer or the buyer may be doing business with the exporter for the long term. Self-final inspection is done by the exporter itself and it happens very rarely (Really rare).

Second Party Final Inspection:

The second party final inspection is done by QC of the buyer or buying house. This method is commonly practiced in all exporting units.

Third Party Final Inspection:

The third-party final inspection will be conducted by the QC of an inspection agency and the inspection agency is nominated by the buyer.
